The main issue of this research is in what form of dualistic oppositions Pejman Bakhtiari's socio-political worldview is formulated and how this formulation relates to the dominant discourses of his time. The findings of the research show that six fundamental oppositions can be traced in Pejman's political and social poems: homeland/occupier, nationalism/internationalism, poverty/wealth, peace/war, tradition/modernity, superstition/rationalism. The analysis of these oppositions reveals that in each of these opposing pairs, Pejman takes the side of the first element in most of the oppositions and in this way uses his poetry as an ideological act in defense of Iranian identity and moral values. In some oppositions, such as poverty/wealth or tradition/modernity, he has gone beyond mere opposition and tends to neutralize or combine the two poles. This research shows that Pejman's pattern of confrontation is aligned with the nationalist discourse of the second Pahlavi period but is in opposition to the leftist discourse and radical modernism. Pejman's tribal origins and life in Bakhtiari culture have influenced the formation of his nationalist worldview.
